A mixed week for Christian and Manu, regulars of the lodge who know very well the fishing spots of the region.
They came this week to enjoy a mixte week with some guided river trips. They are fishermen who generally like to fish from the shore in waders, and having them on the raft was a real pleasure to make them discover the rivers from another angle and to show them the advantages of fishing from the raft.
Three days on the raft and they managed to land 59 pikes (and a good thirty of them missed and unhooked). Results more than correct when we compare the mediocre scores of the moment on lakes (big and small, bank fishing and from float tubes) . The trend is still the same, with a large portion of small pike caught during the week. In general when the young are out, it is that the big ones are not very active ...
And when you catch small jacks in open water it proves well that they have nothing to fear and that they know well that they have no risk of being eaten ... As soon as the cold starts to set in, we should begin to see the bigger fish coming into action. Despite that, Christian manages to get us some beautiful fish and break the magical 100cm + fish ( 105 was the biggest of the week) High pressure and rising temperatures for next week, a little Indian summer ? We will see how this will impact on the catches.
